LoginRussian President Affirms Commitment to Ensuring Security of Ukraine Settlement Talks
Moscow, September 05 (QNA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin asserted Saturday that his country will do everything that would ensure the security of negotiations to find a solution to the conflict with Ukraine.
During his meeting with US President Donald Trump's envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner in Moscow, Putin revealed that the Ukrainian side has been largely reducing its strikes on Russian territories since midnight today.
The Russian armed forces haven't launched any strikes on Kyiv since that time, Putin noted, a move Moscow described as a "partial truce" that has been agreed upon through channels of security apparatuses.
Despite his awareness of the formidable situation, Putin said he would remain relentless when it comes to stepping up efforts to reach a settlement and help resolve the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
Putin added that Moscow received a proposal to temporarily cease strikes on Kyiv through official channels of intelligence apparatuses and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stating that the Ukrainian side propounded a three-day broader truce, whilst this pitch hadn't been directly discussed between Moscow and Kyiv.
The Kremlin announced earlier today that President Vladimir Putin had ordered a three-day halt to strikes on Kyiv, concurrently with the US envoys' visit and talks on resolving the conflict with Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump had indicated that the envoys would present a peace proposal during their visit to Moscow aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine.
This sixth-of-its-kind meeting between Putin and the US interlocutors comes amid extensive diplomatic efforts to make a breakthrough in the Ukrainian issue and find a panacea for the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, as both envoys are scheduled to head to Kyiv on Sunday to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
