London, September 06 (QNA) - Manchester City secured their third consecutive victory of the English Premier League season with a narrow 1-0 win over newly promoted Coventry City.
Norway international striker Erling Haaland scored the game's only goal in the 26th minute, propelling Manchester City to nine points and the top of the league table.
Newcastle United and Bournemouth played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Bournemouth struck early through Marcus Tavernier in the 9th minute, before Malick Thiaw accidentally turned the ball into his own net in the 35th minute to double the visitors' lead. Harvey Barnes pulled one back for Newcastle just two minutes later before halftime, and Jacob Ramsey secured the equalizer two minutes before regular time. The result leaves Newcastle with five points from three matches and Bournemouth with two.
Tottenham Hotspur continued to struggle, dropping points in a scoreless stalemate away to Nottingham Forest.
Crystal Palace staged an impressive comeback to defeat local rivals Fulham 3-2 away from home. Tyrick Mitchell scored a brace (35th and 54th minutes) and Ben Chilwell added a third in the 77th minute. Josh King (11th) and Spain's Cesar Palacios (42nd) had given Fulham a 2-1 halftime lead before Palace turned the match around.
Brentford drew 1-1 with Sunderland, with Germany's Vitaly Janelt scoring for Brentford (57th) and France's Enzo Le Fee equalizing from the penalty spot for Sunderland (82nd).
Brighton & Hove Albion shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw with Leeds United, courtesy of a goal from Croatia's Mauro Perkovic in the 71st minute, canceling out Jayden Bogle's 15th-minute opener.
