German Bundesliga: Bayern Munich Held by Schalke, Dortmund Beat Hoffenheim
Berlin, September 05 (QNA) - Bayern Munich were held to a 0-0 draw by hosts Schalke in their Bundesliga match on Saturday, the second round of the German top flight.
The reigning champions failed to find the net throughout the game, with each side taking a point, and the Bavarian club losing their lead in the table following other results from the round.
Bayern Munich now have four points in fourth place, while Schalke earned their first point since returning to the Bundesliga, sitting 14th on goal difference behind Eintracht Frankfurt, Mainz, and Paderborn.
In other matches, Borussia Dortmund came from behind to beat hosts Hoffenheim 3-2, securing their second consecutive win and joining Freiburg and Werder Bremen at the top with six points each.
Freiburg maintained their perfect start with a second win, defeating hosts Paderborn 1-0.
Werder Bremen also came from behind to beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-3, securing their second win of the season.
Bayer Leverkusen, the 2024 champions, earned their first win of the season with a 4-0 victory over Union Berlin, while Werder Bremen defeated Leipzig 3-1.
The second round of the Bundesliga concludes on Sunday with two matches: Hamburg vs. Mainz, and Eintracht Frankfurt vs. Augsburg. (QNA)
