Cairo, September 02 (QNA) - The Arab League has vehemently condemned the fresh Iranian assaults on Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. 
It warned that this new cascading escalation poses a grave violation of nations' sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as a direct threat to the security and stability of the region, a harbinger of new metastasizing conflict.
In a statement Wednesday, the organization stressed that this continued escalatory approach not only imperils the security of Arabian Gulf states, but rather exposes regional security to increasing risks, shattering what remains of de-escalation efforts.
It noted that this approach obviously erodes efforts aimed at unlocking political pathways to remedy the crisis.
The statement reemphasized that the league fully stands with those three nations and backs their enduring right to protect their sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.
Those nations are entitled to take measures they deem legitimate under international law to fend off any threats or assaults, the statement continued.
As such, the statement called for an immediate halt to these attacks, the exercise of restraint and refraining from taking any steps that could broaden the conflict.
The unrelenting escalation would never lead to addressing the root causes of the crisis, rather, it would deepen it, thereby raising costs for the whole region, the statement warned.
The league further reemphasized the importance of restoring the negotiating and political pathway as the sole off-ramp capable of breaking the cycle of escalation and serving as an enduring fulcrum for regional security and stability. (QNA)
