Geneva, September 14 (QNA) - The International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed that some 100,000 people were displaced from Blue Nile State in southeastern Sudan between January 11 and August 23 due to armed conflict.

In a statement issued today, the organization reported that 99,277 individuals-47 percent of whom are children-were displaced from various locations within the state due to fighting between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces.

According to the IOM, the displaced persons came from several areas across the state, including Geissan locality (39,570 displaced), Al Kurmuk locality (32,515 people), and Bau locality (27,192 people).

Since mid-April 2023, Sudan has been witnessing an armed conflict between the army and the Rapid Support Forces, which has resulted in tens of thousands of deaths and the displacement of millions of people both within and outside the country, according to estimates by international organizations.
