Riyadh, August 08 (QNA) - The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs has strongly condemned and denounced the targeting of a UAE-flagged tanker as it was transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In its statement Saturday, the Ministry emphasized that such unacceptable attacks constitute an assault on the security and safety of maritime navigation, as well as on the security of global energy supplies.
It added that Iran's continued attacks constitute a serious violation of international laws and norms, including UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which guarantee freedom of navigation and safe passage through maritime waterways.
Saudi Arabia held Iran responsible for the consequences of its continued attacks and called on Tehran to immediately halt these violations in order to preserve the security, stability, and safety of the region.
The kingdom also renewed its full solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and expressed its support for any measures the UAE takes to safeguard its sovereignty and national resources. (QNA)
