Arab League Condemns Targeting of Emirati Tanker Transiting Strait of Hormuz
Cairo, August 08 (QNA) - The League of the Arab States has condemned Iran's targeting of an Emirati tanker transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement issued today, Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy considered the attack a new episode in Iran's ongoing violations of the principle of freedom of navigation and the safety of maritime routes. He stressed that this hostile behavior constitutes a breach of Security Council resolutions, most notably Resolution 2817, which affirms the principle of freedom of navigation and rejects targeting commercial vessels.
The statement held Iran fully responsible for these attacks on Arab assets, which violate established international principles regarding freedom of navigation and the safety of waterways, and will have numerous repercussions for the security and stability of the region. (QNA)
