Cairo, August 08 (QNA) - Egypt has strongly condemned an attack with a projectile on an Emirati ADNOC tanker while traversing the Strait of Hormuz.

It deemed the assault as a dangerous threat to the security and safety of maritime navigation, as well as the freedom of commercial traffic through one of the world's most important international waterways.

In a statement Saturday, the Foreign Ministry stressed that Egypt fully stands with the UAE and utterly rejects all actions that target vessels and civilian facilities or imperil the security and safety of navigation in the region.

It also underlined the importance of respecting freedom of navigation in international waterways and never endangering it, reiterating its call for de-escalation and prioritizing political and diplomatic solutions to help achieve regional security and stability. (QNA)
