Jordan, EU Sign EUR 135 Million Financing Agreements
Amman, May 07 (QNA) - Amman and the European Union signed three financing agreements on Thursday to enhance cooperation in human capital development, refugee support, and border security in Jordan, with a total value of EUR 135 million, within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two sides.
In a statement, Jordan's Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation said the agreements include 30 million Euro for human capital development, EUR 80 million for refugee protection and support to ensure decent livelihoods for host communities and Syrian refugees, and EUR 25 million for integrated border management and internal security, aimed at strengthening Jordan's capacities in combating transnational crime, cyber threats, and human trafficking.
The ministry noted that the comprehensive strategic partnership, signed in January 2025, focuses on peace, security, and sustainable development across five pillars: human capital development, migration and refugee support, security, economic resilience, and political relations.
The European Union had pledged EUR 3 billion to Jordan for the period 2025-2027, including grants, investments, and soft loans to address shared challenges. (QNA)
