Qatar's Samba Set for Star-Studded Diamond League Return in Xiamen
Monaco, May 21 (QNA) - Qatar's hurdler Abdulrahman Samba will begin his 2026 Diamond League campaign at the Xiamen meeting in China on Saturday, organizers confirmed on Thursday.
The Diamond League Council said the men's 400m hurdles is expected to be one of the season's standout races, featuring Norway's Karsten Warholm, the second-fastest man in history over the distance, and Brazil's Alison dos Santos, who holds the third-best all-time mark.
Samba, ranked fourth in the world with a personal best of 46.98 seconds, heads into the meeting after winning gold in the 400m hurdles at the GCC Games in Doha.
Organizers said the Xiamen meeting, the second stop of the 2026 Diamond League season, will feature many of the world's leading athletes competing across 14 events in pursuit of the overall Diamond League title.
This year's Diamond League season began in Shanghai after the Doha meeting was postponed until June. (QNA)
