Doha, May 21 (QNA) - HE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Sayed said the newly concluded free trade agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the United Kingdom (UK) will directly benefit Qatar's private sector and expand access to the British market.
Speaking after the conclusion of negotiations, HE Al Sayed said the agreement would strengthen the competitiveness of Qatari companies in sectors including digital trade, financial services and energy, creating new opportunities for economic growth.
The joint statement marking the end of negotiations for the GCC-UK free trade agreement was signed on Wednesday as part of efforts to deepen economic and commercial ties between both sides.
Al Sayed, who took part in a virtual meeting between GCC trade ministers and British officials, described the agreement as a significant achievement reflecting the State of Qatar's growing role in shaping international economic relations.
He said the deal would not only enhance trade exchange, but also establish a long-term economic partnership with the UK, while giving Qatari businesses and investors wider access to global markets.
The minister added that Qatar would continue working closely with its Gulf partners to ensure the effective implementation of the agreement and translate it into tangible economic gains across the region. (QNA)
