Doha Bank Stars League: Lusail Earn Historic Promotion to Doha Bank Stars League; Al Kharaitiyat Head to Playoff

Doha, April 25 (QNA) - Lusail SC secured promotion to the Qatari football top tier, the Doha Bank Stars League, for the first time in their history after defeating Al Markhiya SC 2-0 today at Grand Hamad Stadium in Round 13 of the Second Division.

With this victory, Lusail SC raised their tally to 29 points at the top of the standings, extending its lead to four points with one round remaining, ahead of second-placed Al Kharaitiyat SC, who have 25 points after their 2-1 win over Muaither SC.

Al Kharaitiyat will now contest a playoff match against the team finishing second from bottom in the Doha Bank Stars League for a place in next season's competition.

Meanwhile, Al Markhiya SC remain third with 20 points, while Muaither SC are fourth with 18 points.

In other matches played today, Al Khor SC defeated Al Bidda SC 2-1, moving up to fifth place with 17 points, while Al Bidda remain eighth with 8 points.

Additionally, Mesaimeer SC recorded a 3-0 victory over Al Waab SC, raising their total to 17 points in sixth place -level with Al Khor on points- while Al Waab stay seventh with 9 points. (QNA)
