Doha, February 01 (QNA) - Umm Salal announced Sunday that it has appointed Spanish coach Ruben Albes to lead the club's first football team.

The club did not disclose the details or the length of the contract. Umm Salal also shared photos of Albes meeting players during his first training session.

Albes brings European coaching experience from stints with several Spanish clubs, including Sporting Gijon and Celta Vigo, as well as Romanian side Hermannstadt.

Umm Salal had dismissed French coach Patrice Carteron on January 22 after a run of poor results. The team currently sits last in the Doha Bank Stars League table with nine points.

Umm Salal is scheduled to face Al Duhail on Wednesday in the opening match of the 15th round of the league. (QNA)
