Djibouti, April 23 (QNA) - Qatar Charity has launched a relief and development aid project in Djibouti to assist the most vulnerable groups.

The initiative aims to support needy families, orphans, and widows, while also contributing to the economic empowerment of youth through job creation.

It further seeks to strengthen vital sectors such as education and healthcare, thereby promoting the principle of sustainable development.

In her speech at the inauguration ceremony, Djibouti's Minister of Social Affairs and Solidarity Aloha Ismail Abdo stated; The relief and development products project implemented by Qatar Charity stands as a testament to the deep cooperation between the Djiboutian government and international humanitarian partners, particularly Qatar Charity

This event comes just one week after the signing of a partnership agreement between the Ministry of Social Affairs and Solidarity and Qatar Charity, reflecting a swift response and a strong humanitarian commitment.

This project carries significant importance, especially for our most vulnerable citizens, as it provides them with essential tools to gradually emerge from fragility and empowers them to build a more stable future.

This valuable contribution will enable us to respond swiftly to the needs of local communities, as identified during our recent social convoy to the country's interior regions.

For her part, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Women and Family, Anisa Hassan Bahdon, stressed that empowering widowed women and integrating them into society is one of the Ministry's top priorities.

She noted that such projects contribute to enhancing women's economic independence and improving the living standards of beneficiary families.

Head of Humanitarian Interventions at Qatar Charity Ibrahim Al Janahi said: This project is of great importance to the most vulnerable social groups, especially persons with disabilities, as it provides them with essential equipment that facilitates mobility and enhances their daily quality of life.

He emphasized that this support reflects Qatar Charity's commitment to achieving full social inclusion for this segment of society and to providing an environment that enables them to live with dignity and independence.

He further explained that the project is not limited to offering relief aid but also includes initiatives to create job opportunities for youth, thereby contributing to the improved living conditions of beneficiary families.

The relief and development aid project includes a wide range of support items, such as hundreds of refugee tents, 2,900 water filters, and 300 water filtration devices specifically for refugees.

Additionally, the project provides 900 solar-powered lamps, 900 kitchen utensil sets, 200 sewing machines, 100 electronic wheelchairs, and 600 manual wheelchairs.

It also includes 120 three-wheeled tuk-tuk vehicles, 1,000 school desks and chairs, among other items designed to improve the living conditions of the most vulnerable segments of society. (QNA)
