Qatar International Cup, Arab, West Asian Weightlifting Championships Continue in Doha

Doha, December 21 (QNA) - Competitions continued on Saturday in the 10th edition of the Qatar International Weightlifting Cup 2025, alongside the Arab Weightlifting Championship for seniors, youth and juniors, as well as the West Asian Weightlifting Championship for the same age categories. The events are organized by the Qatar Weightlifting Federation and will continue until December 27.

The second day of competition saw strong and highly competitive performances across the three championships, in various weight categories and across senior, youth and junior divisions.

In the Arab Weightlifting Championship men's 65kg category, Saudi lifter Siraj Al Salim won three gold medals after lifting 129kg in the snatch, 166kg in the clean and jerk, and recording a total of 295kg. Syrian lifter Jaafar Mia claimed two silver medals in the clean and jerk with 146kg and in the total with 255kg, while Tunisia's Amin Bouhajba secured the silver medal in the snatch with a lift of 117kg. Egypt's Sadeq Mahmoud collected three bronze medals after lifting 113kg in the snatch, 138kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 251kg.

In the youth men's 65kg category, Saudi Arabia's Ali Majid dominated the competition, winning three gold medals with lifts of 121kg in the snatch, 160kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 281kg. Syria's Jaafar Mia earned silver medals in the clean and jerk and total, along with a bronze medal in the snatch after lifting 109kg. Egypt's Sadeq Mahmoud won the silver medal in the snatch and bronze medals in the clean and jerk and total.

In the junior men's 65kg category, Saudi lifter Abdullah Ibrahim claimed three gold medals with lifts of 115kg in the snatch, 145kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 260kg. Egypt's Sadeq Mahmoud secured three silver medals, while Algeria's Osama Mouach earned three bronze medals after lifting 103kg in the snatch, 130kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 233kg.

In the Arab Championship women's 48kg category, Tunisia's Mayssa Khadhraoui won two gold medals in the clean and jerk with 77kg and in the total with 134kg, in addition to a silver medal in the snatch after lifting 57kg. Algeria's Nadia Kotbi claimed the gold medal in the snatch with 58kg and added two bronze medals in the clean and jerk and total with 75kg and 133kg respectively. Saudi lifter Ghada Abdulrahman secured three bronze medals after lifting 53kg in the snatch, 61kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 114kg.

In the youth women's 48kg competition, Mayssa Khadhraoui completed a clean sweep of the gold medals with lifts of 57kg in the snatch, 77kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 134kg. Syria's Sidra Daaboul won three silver medals after lifting 45kg in the snatch, 60kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 105kg. In the junior women's 48kg category, Saudi Arabia's Ritaj Hadi Ajeel claimed three gold medals with lifts of 36kg in the snatch, 47kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 83kg.

In the West Asian Weightlifting Championship men's 65kg category, Saudi lifter Siraj Al-Salim once again claimed three gold medals after lifting 129kg in the snatch, 166kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 295kg. Syria's Jaafar Mia won three silver medals with lifts of 109kg in the snatch, 146kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 255kg. Kuwait's Fahad Hamid earned three bronze medals after lifting 96kg in the snatch, 125kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 251kg.

In the youth men's 65kg competition, Ali Majid of Saudi Arabia won three gold medals, while Syria's Jaafar Mia took three silver medals and Kuwait's Fahad Hamid earned three bronze medals. In the junior men's category, Saudi lifter Abdullah Ibrahim claimed three gold medals. Fellow Saudi lifter Reda Mohammed secured silver medals in the snatch with 101kg and in the total with 225kg, in addition to a bronze medal in the clean and jerk after lifting 124kg. Kuwait's Fahad Hamid won the silver medal in the clean and jerk with 125kg, as well as bronze medals in the snatch and total.

In the Qatar International Weightlifting Cup men's 65kg category, South Korea's Kim Hyuk-Song topped the standings with three gold medals after lifting 138kg in the snatch, 170kg in the clean and jerk, and recording a total of 308kg. Saudi Arabia's Siraj Al-Salim earned three silver medals, while Uzbekistan's Ergashev Adkhamjon collected three bronze medals with lifts of 126kg in the snatch, 159kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 285kg.

In the women's 48kg competition, Thailand's Khemika Kamanodjariya claimed three gold medals after lifting 72kg in the snatch, 90kg in the clean and jerk, and totaling 162kg. Uzbekistan's Odilova Monisa secured three silver medals with lifts of 65kg in the snatch, 78kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 143kg. Tunisia's Mayssa Khadhraoui earned three bronze medals with lifts of 57kg in the snatch, 77kg in the clean and jerk, and a total of 134kg. (QNA)
