Ankara, December 30 (QNA) - Turkish police have detained 357 people in coordinated raids across 21 provinces targeting suspected ISIS, the country's interior minister has said.

Ali Yerlikaya said the early-morning operations were carried out simultaneously by police units in provinces including Ankara, Istanbul, Antalya, Gaziantep and Sanliurfa.

In a statement, Yerlikaya said Turkiye would not allow those who sought to threaten or destabilize the country to succeed.

The arrests come a day after a separate security operation in the north-western province of Yalova. That incident left three police officers dead and eight others injured, according to Turkish authorities. Six suspected ISIS members were also killed during the operation.

Turkiye has carried out frequent security sweeps against ISIS in recent years, citing concerns about potential attacks and the group's continued presence in the region.

The authorities said the latest raids form part of ongoing efforts to disrupt extremist networks and prevent further violence. (QNA)
