Tehran, February 27 (QNA) - An earthquake measuring at 4.4 on Richter scale jolted Abdanan in Ilam Province in western Iran on Wednesday morning, injuring 17 people. According to the Iranian news agency (IRNA), the earthquake occurred at the depth of 9 kilometers.

The quake caused the injury of 17 people and broke the windows of some buildings and cracked some walls. A disaster management center has been set up to assess the damages, IRNA said. On November 12, 2017, a fatal 7.3-measuring earthquake hit the provincial city of Salas Babajani, killing 620 people and injuring about 12,000 others.

An earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale also hit the area more than a month ago, injuring 771 people and damaging more than 4,000 housing units. (QNA)
