Doha, January 18 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has launched the Iftar fasting campaign for Ramadan 1446 AH, offering 300,000 Iftar meals across nine squares statewide, with the possibility of expansion.

Addressing a press conference, Chairman of Iftar committee at the Ministry of Endowments, Muhammad Yaqoub Al Ali, said the campaign is one of the community initiatives undertaken by the Ministry with the aim of spreading the ethos of interdependence and collaboration among the community members as advocated by the Islamic religion.

He praised the wonderful efforts of benefactors who supported this campaign, along with the record turnout on the part of many of them to gain rewards and good deeds, highlighting that two of those good people generously supported the campaign through covering the expense of breakfast in Muraikh and the Industrial Area, with QR700 for each by offering 30,000 meals during the Holy Ramadan.

Al Ali implored benefactors to contribute this campaign in Ain Khaled "Thursday and Friday market", Al Sailiya "new central market", Al Rayyan "Eid prayer square", Al Wakrah "opposite the old Wakrah market", Al Khor "Uthman bin Affan Mosque", Fereej Bin Omran "Eid prayer square" and Al Aziziyah "Eid prayer square".

He highlighted that the record turnout from contributors will certainly increase the number of beneficiaries and the meals, with QR23 per meal. Contributors can participate in this project by selecting one of the areas nationwide via the link: https://www.awqaf.gov.qa/ftr The breakfast squares are equipped with tents as per approved specifications, he said, highlighting that an array of religious activities is prepared before Maghreb prayer.

Through this campaign Awqaf primarily intends to reinforce interdependence and enable those in need to perform the obligation of fasting, in addition to mitigating the suffering of many workers who encounter tough conditions in preparing the meals in a timely manner. (QNA)
