Hungarian Parliament Elects Andras Baka as President
Budapest, August 11 (QNA) - Hungary's parliament on Tuesday elected former Supreme Court president Andras Baka as the country's President, with 140 votes in favor and six against.
In his first speech, Baka said Hungary had lost a generation and fallen behind in its democratic progress.
Baka, 73, was removed as Supreme Court president in 2012 after criticizing judicial retirement reforms.
The European Court of Human Rights later ruled that his dismissal was politically motivated. (QNA)
