Doha, November 22 (QNA) - Germany will play against Japan on Wednesday in their Group E opener in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 at Khalifa International Stadium.

Germany, who won the World Cup four times in 1954, 1974, 1990 and 2014, seek their fifth World Cup trophy in Qatar.

Hansi Flick's men seek to secure their first victory before clashing with Spain and Costa Rica later in the tournament.

Japan enter the game depending on a host of outstanding players, particularly Takumi Minamino of Monaco and the Shalke center back Maya Yoshida.

This is the first ever World Cup clash between the two sides. However, they played two friendlies that ended in a 2-2 draw and a 3-0 victory for the Germans.
