Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Set to Open in Japan
Japan, September 18 (QNA) - The 20th Asian Games (Aichi-Nagoya 2026) will officially open in Nagoya on Saturday, with a record 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions set to compete.
The Games will run until October 4, featuring 469 events across 43 sports and 71 disciplines. Japan is hosting the Asian Games for the third time, following Tokyo in 1958 and Hiroshima in 1994.
Qatar will be represented by a 427-member delegation, including 243 athletes competing in 26 sports.
Padel player Mohammed Saadoun Al Kuwari and shooter Reem Al Sharshani will carry Qatar's flag at the opening ceremony.
Qatar's women's 3x3 basketball team has also arrived in Japan ahead of its campaign, which begins on September 22 against Sri Lanka before facing China. (QNA)
