Doha, November 20 (QNA) - Australia's Martin Boyle has succumbed to a knee injury, ruling him out of Graham Arnold's World Cup squad on the eve of the tournament opener.

"We all feel for Martin and it is a cruel blow for him on the eve of the World Cup," Australia coach Graham Arnold said in a statement.

"He has been an integral part of our journey to get to Qatar and we thank him for everything he has given the Socceroos during this campaign."

Boyle suffered the injury on Oct. 16 in a Scottish Premiership match and has not played since. (QNA)
