Kremlin: Russian, US Presidents Speak by Phone to Discuss Ukraine
Moscow, September 08 (QNA) - Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump spoke by phone to discuss the recent developments in Ukraine, as well as the outcome of US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner’s recent visits to Moscow and Kyiv, the Kremlin said Tuesday.
Aide to the Russian President Yuri Ushakov said the discussions focused on resolving the conflict in Ukraine, describing the phone conversation as positive.
Ushakov added that Putin gave Trump a detailed analysis of developments related to the Russian military operation in Ukraine and hailed US mediation efforts to unlock prospects for resolving the conflict.
The US president had conspicuously stressed the importance of ending the conflict as soon as possible, Ushakov said, stating that this would pave the way for broader prospects to rebuild the US-Russian relationship entirely.
Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Kyiv and Moscow in recent days, holding talks with officials from both countries on prospects for reaching a settlement to the conflict that has raged since February 2022. (QNA)
