Doha, September 06 (QNA) - The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) said it had processed 57,699 electronic submissions since launching its digital system for chemical management and hazardous waste management in 2024.
In a statement Sunday, MECC added that it had provided 23 electronic services through an integrated system that consolidated chemical management and hazardous waste management services within a highly efficient and transparent regulatory framework.
The ministry had processed transactions for more than 1,850 registered companies, with 0 percent paper-based submissions, while recording a customer satisfaction rate of 93.4 percent, the statement reads.
The statement highlighted that process reengineering resulted in a significant reduction in processing time of up to 70 percent, with the average processing time for hazardous materials transactions falling to 2.4 business days and for hazardous waste transactions to 1.5 business days, in addition to a 33 percent reduction in processing time for import and export services after processing 40,391 shipment clearances at ports of entry in lockstep with customs authorities.
Regarding environmental compliance monitoring and the circular economy, MECC handled 131,971 tons of hazardous waste in accordance with approved requirements, received 8,065 used electronic devices, and issued permits for the disposal of 288 tons of electronic waste.
Compliance-monitoring activities included inspections of 4,097 facilities, raising the compliance rate among warehouses and facilities to about 90 percent, supported by the provision of 19 modern field devices for rapid chemical identification, the statement continued.
As part of its partnership-building efforts, MECC organized 49 awareness workshops and training courses attended by 1,990 private-sector representatives, while also developing and updating 25 guidance documents and monitoring implementation of the requirements of five international agreements.
It also prepared to expand digital integration and develop advanced analytical tools in the next phase under the TASMU smart program, with the objective  of gradually transitioning to a proactive regulatory approach that serves the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030. (QNA)
