Berlin, September 04 (QNA) - Germany called Friday for a permanent, verifiable agreement with Iran to secure shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and address its nuclear program, citing negotiations as key to regional stability.
The government underscored that maritime security in the strait is vital for global energy supplies. Chancellor Friedrich Merz reaffirmed support for a durable deal to halt fighting.
Berlin set three pre-conditions for sanction relief: securing navigation in the strait, ending Iran's nuclear program, and stopping regional threats. 
Germany voiced readiness to join a future maritime security mission once hostilities end under a clear legal framework.
The position follows rising US-Iran tensions and shipping disruptions that have pushed up oil and gas prices. (QNA)
