Doha, September 04 (QNA) - Al Sadd head coach Razvan Lucescusaid his team is braced for a difficult and competitive encounter against Al Gharafa on Saturday at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in the third round of the Qatar Stars League, known as the Doha Bank Stars League.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Lucescu said: "We expect a difficult game, but the team and the players are ready for the challenge and determined to secure victory."
The Al Sadd coach said the team's objective at this stage is clear: to win and maintain its momentum in the competition. He added that Saturday's match would be entirely different from the teams' most recent meeting in the Qatar Cup last Tuesday.
For his part, Al Gharafa head coach Pedro Martinez said his team is ready for the encounter, adding that preparations have continued as normal following their previous match.
"Our preparations for the upcoming game are ongoing," Martinez said. "We devoted the first two training sessions to recovery to help the players regain their fitness, particularly those who played most of the previous match, while the rest of the squad followed their regular training program."
Martinez said the previous meeting between the two sides was an open and evenly balanced contest, with both teams seeking victory. He noted, however, that Al Gharafa made several defensive mistakes during the final 10 minutes of the first half, which Al Sadd capitalized on to score twice.
Al Sadd currently lead the league standings with six points, while Al Gharafa sit eighth with three points. (QNA)
