Damascus, September 16 (QNA) - Syria has vehemently condemned the Houthis' attempted drone attack on Makkah Al Mukarramah.
It stressed that tampering with the security of this Holy Site and its fringes, or endangering the safety of worshipers, citizens and residents, is a dangerous violation of the sanctity of the Holy Places that provokes the sentiments of Muslims worldwide.
A statement by its Foreign Ministry Wednesday expressed Syria's solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in fending off Houthi threats.
The Ministry further reaffirmed that Syria supports any decision taken by Saudi Arabia to safeguard the security of the two Holy Mosques.
 It underlined the importance of respecting the religious significance of these Mosques and shielding them from the fallout of regional conflicts to protect the sacred status of the holy sites. (QNA)
