Bujumbura, September 14 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) has dispatched a delegation to Burundi to carry out several religious and societal initiatives, including a mass marriage initiative as part of its efforts to strengthen international Islamic partnerships while supporting initiatives focused on human development, advancing Islamic values and fostering community development.

The delegation comprised Head of the Authorship and Translation Section at Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud Islamic Cultural Center, Hassan Abdul Salam Al Emadi; Head of the Studies Section at the General Directorate of Endowments, Mohammed Saleh Al Badr; and Mohammed Jaber Al Buraidi Al-Marri, Senior Sharia Expert at the Department of Da'wah and Religious Guidance.

The delegation met with several leaders of the Islamic Association and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and Development Cooperation and discussed areas of bilateral cooperation, in addition to sharing expertise in Da'wah, education and endowment, alongside opportunities to serve Muslims and promote religious and educational avenues in the country.

In addition, the delegation took part in a national Holy Qur'an contest to memorize partial and whole parts of the Qur'an, organized by the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs at Omuko Stadium in Muyinga, in pursuit of encouraging children, adolescents and youth to memorize the Holy Qur'an and master recitation while promoting Islamic education.

The contenders were then evaluated by a professional judging panel based on criteria that included memorization quality, recitation accuracy, Tajweed proficiency and pronunciation integrity.

Multiple age-group winners were honored and presented with rewards and certificates in recognition of their achievements, so as to motivate them to pursue their path toward learning the Holy Qur'an.

Amid a massive public crowd, the delegation participated in the mass marriage held in Butany Province and honored couples who benefited from this societal initiative, which primarily helps stabilize families and ensure tight-knit communities.

The Ministry's participation is part of its mission to promote sound Islamic precepts and support Sharia, Qur'anic, endowment and development education, in addition to fostering international partnerships dedicated to serving Islamic communities.

This move aligns with its strategic objectives and Qatar National Vision 2030 in terms of human development, international solidarity and humanitarian action. (QNA)
