Capitals, September 12 (QNA) - Arab and Islamic nations have issued a series of condemnations regarding the attack on the "East-West" crude oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions of Saudi Arabia.

The attack, carried out by drones launched from Iraqi territory, resulted in casualties and material damage.

The League of Arab States condemned the attack in the strongest terms. In a statement issued today, Secretary-General Nabil Fahmy described the targeting as a flagrant violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty, a grave threat to its security and stability, and a clear breach of the rules of international law and the UN Charter.

Fahmy emphasized that targeting infrastructure, oil facilities, and energy transport lines poses a direct threat to energy security and the stability of both regional and global economies. He affirmed the Arab League's categorical rejection of the use of any Arab state's territory as a launchpad for attacks against another Arab state or to undermine its security and stability.

He also affirmed the Arab League's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia, standing by the Kingdom in all legitimate and necessary measures it takes to safeguard its sovereignty, protect its security and national assets, and ensure the safety of its citizens and residents.

In this context, Fahmy expressed his appreciation for Saudi Arabia's decision not to retaliate at this time. This move allows the Iraqi government the opportunity to take the necessary measures to prevent a recurrence of such attacks-launched from Iraqi territory against Arab neighbors-thereby reinforcing the principles of good-neighborly relations and preserving regional security and stability.

Likewise, the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack in the strongest terms, expressing its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-its leadership and people-and affirming its commitment to the Kingdom's security, stability, and territorial integrity, while wishing the injured a speedy recovery.

The Ministry emphasized that targeting vital facilities and civilian infrastructure constitutes a grave violation of the principles and purposes of the UN Charter, as well as the provisions of international law and international humanitarian law-particularly the rules requiring the protection of civilians and civilian facilities from hostilities.

The Lebanese Foreign Ministry welcomed Iraq’s announcement of an urgent investigation into the attack and the intention to hold those involved accountable. It stressed that confronting military activities by non-state actors-particularly in Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen-is a shared, ongoing battle aimed at enabling these nations to assert their authority and sovereignty over their entire territories using solely their own capabilities.

Relatedly, Syria condemned the targeting of the oil pipeline in the strongest terms, deeming it a violation of Saudi Arabia's sovereignty and a flagrant breach of international law and the UN Charter.

In a statement released today, the Syrian Foreign Ministry affirmed Syria's complete solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its full support for the measures and steps the Kingdom takes to safeguard its security and stability.

For its part, Pakistan strongly condemned the drone attacks that targeted the oil pipeline. In a statement issued today, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that targeting civilian infrastructure constitutes a flagrant violation of international law, as well as the Kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, and poses a serious threat to peace, security, and stability in the region.

Pakistan reiterated its unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and prosperity of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming its full solidarity with the Saudi leadership, government, and people. It also noted that Islamabad has made-and will continue to make-serious efforts to achieve lasting peace and stability in the region.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in the strongest terms the drone attack on the "East-West" pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions, as well as the resulting casualties and material damage.

The Ministry affirmed the State of Palestine’s full solidarity with and support for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-its leadership, government, and people-in the face of any aggression targeting its security, stability, sovereignty, and vital facilities. (QNA)
