BRICS Leaders Emphasize Importance of Dialogue, Diplomacy in Conflict Resolution
New Delhi, September 12 (QNA) - Leaders of the BRICS bloc affirmed their steadfast commitment to resolving international disputes through peaceful means, stressing the importance of dialogue, consultation, and diplomatic efforts. They also underscored the necessity of intensifying conflict prevention efforts, including addressing root causes.
In a joint statement issued today, the bloc called for the exercise of utmost restraint amidst the ongoing escalation in the Middle East and West Asia. Expressing deep concern over rising tensions, the group emphasized the need to avoid actions that could exacerbate the situation. It advocated for a multilateral approach that respects diverse national perspectives and positions on key global issues and highlighted the importance of bolstering international efforts to de-escalate tensions and maintain international peace and security.
BRICS also expressed concern regarding the growing risk of nuclear threats and persistent conflicts across various regions of the world, stressing the necessity of upholding international law and ensuring the safety and security of civilian facilities and infrastructure.
On the economic front, BRICS nations emphasized the importance of maintaining the smooth flow of global trade and enhancing the stability of supply chains and energy flows, particularly amidst geopolitical disruptions and the mounting challenges facing the global economy.
These points were outlined in the declaration of the annual BRICS summit held in New Delhi, India, with the participation of the group's member states-Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa-alongside Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the UAE. (QNA)
