Cairo, August 08 (QNA) -  Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Iraqi counterpart, Fuad Hussein, spoke by telephone Saturday to discuss the importance of joint work to uphold de-escalation in the region.

Both ministers stressed the need to prioritize the language of dialogue, back efforts to de-escalate the situation and settle crises through political and diplomatic means so as to safeguard the security and stability of the region and shield it from further tensions.

A statement by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry reported that both ministers addressed the evolving situation in the Middle East, along with the security arrangements in the region.

The statement further pointed out that the two sides also underscored the importance of moving ahead with enhancing the Egypt-Iraq-Jordan tripartite cooperation mechanism as a promising framework for regional integration and benefiting from the human and economic resources of those three nations.
