France, Brazil Advance to Semifinals of FIVB U17 World Championship Doha 2026
Doha, August 27 (QNA) - France and Brazil advanced to the semifinals of the FIVB U17 World Championship Doha 2026 after securing convincing victories in their quarterfinal matches on Thursday.
France continued their impressive campaign with a straight-sets victory over Romania, winning 25-17, 25-19 and 25-21 to book a spot in the last four and strengthen their hopes of claiming the world title.
Brazil also produced a dominant performance, defeating Venezuela 3-0. The Brazilian side won the sets 25-19, 25-13 and 25-14 to reach the semifinals, where it will face France in a highly anticipated encounter.
The France-Brazil semifinal will be played on Friday at Aspire Zone and is expected to be one of the highlights of the last-four stage, with both teams having demonstrated strong form throughout the tournament.
France reached the quarterfinals after edging Spain 3-2 in the Round of 16, while Brazil booked their place in the last eight with a 3-0 victory over India. Romania advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating Tunisia 3-1, while Venezuela secured their place with a 3-2 win over Bulgaria.
The remaining two quarterfinals will be played later on Thursday, with Iran taking on Pakistan in the first match and Argentina facing Poland in the second. The results will determine the two teams that will contest the other semifinal.
