Lebanese President: Negotiations with Israel Not Easy, Better than War
Beirut, August 26 (QNA) - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that his country's decision to start negotiations with the Israeli entity was taken in order to avoid the devastation of war.
In a statement on Wednesday, Aoun stressed, "Negotiations are neither easy nor quick, and there are obstacles and difficulties, but they remain far better than war."
"Liberating the south, deploying the Army up to the border, recovering the prisoners, securing the return of residents and reconstruction," the Lebanese President said, remain Beirut's goals.
"These objectives cannot be achieved through war, as experience has shown. There is therefore no option other than negotiations," he added. (QNA)
