Israeli Troops Detain Multiple Palestinians in West Bank Amid Heightened Siege Operation
Ramallah, August 26 (QNA) - The Israeli occupation forces on Wednesday conducted incursions into multiple parts across the occupied West Bank and detained several Palestinians.
These operations marked heightened military measures and the sealing off of a number of roads and barricades.
Citing local sources, the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) reported that two young people from Hebron Governorate were arrested, alongside three from Jenin Governorate, including a person with disabilities.
The Israeli troops also detained six people from Jerusalem Governorate, along with a young man from Qatanna town, northwest of occupied Jerusalem, the sources said.
The sources added that the troops beat several detainees after storming their homes and tampered with the contents throughout search operations.
In Hebron Governorate, the occupation forces set up several military checkpoints at the entrances to the governorate, its towns, villages, and refugee camps, and sealed off a number of expressways and service roads using iron gates, concrete blocks, and earth berms, blocking residents' movement.
In Nablus Governorate, the Israeli forces installed an iron gate on the only road leading to three homes besieged by the occupation forces and settlers in the Ras Al-Ain area of Qasra, south of Nablus.
WAFA cited Qasra Mayor Abdul Azim Wadi as saying that the installation of the gate thoroughly isolated the area from its periphery and compounded the anguish of its residents, as settlers were ubiquitous, along with the continued siege of the homes for the 18th consecutive day.
He explained that four roads lead to the Ras Al-Ain area and that the new gate was the second one installed by the occupation forces, while the other roads were closed with earth berms, further exacerbating the plight of the three besieged families, particularly amid shortages of medicine and food.
Settlers continue to besiege three homes in the Ras Al-Ain area of Qasra for the 18th consecutive day, as the occupation army has declared the area a closed military zone.
In Qalqiliya Governorate, the occupation soldiers sealed off multiple roads, impeding the movement of residents and vehicles. Local sources reported that the forces closed the Jayyus-Nabi Ilyas Bridge Road, the entrance to the village of Nabi Ilyas, and the Azzun-Jayyus Bridge east of Qalqiliya, using iron gates.
The sources further reported that the occupation forces uncoiled opposite the Izbat At-Tabib-Azzun woodlands, amid relentless military measures that restrict residents' movement in the area.
The occupied West Bank is plagued by unabated escalation, marked by near-daily incursions into homes, detentions, and road closures, along with repeated settler rampages against residents and their property, amid heightened military measures in a number of Palestinian governorates and towns. (QNA)
