UN Calls Out Israeli Threat to Expel Residents From Parts of Gaza
Geneva, August 25 (QNA) - The United Nations condemned Israel’s threats to expel residents from parts of the Gaza Strip over children flying kites, expressing regret over what it described as "unacceptable rhetoric" coming from "Israeli leaders".
Ravina Shamdasani, spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, said Tuesday that regarding the threat of expulsion over children flying kites, she hopes that all can agree that this is outrageous.
The UN continues to see unacceptable rhetoric emanating from the highest levels of the Israeli authorities, showing utter contempt for international human rights law and international humanitarian law, while inciting violence that rises to the level of atrocity crimes, she added.
Israeli occupation forces had threatened to step up their operations in Gaza if kite-flying continued, saying they would evict residents from areas where the kites are launched. (QNA)
