QSC Launches Implementation Phase of "Young Inventors" Program
Doha, August 02 (QNA) - The Qatar Scientific Club (QSC), affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth (MSY), has launched the implementation phase of the "Young Inventors" program.
The program is part of the national initiative launched by MSY during Web Summit Qatar 2026, aiming to explore and hone the skills of young people aged between 15 and 30 who have a predilection for science, technology, and innovation.
In addition, the program aims to prepare a generation of inventors and innovators capable of thinking outside the box to help strengthen the sustainable development path, as well as Qatar's competitiveness in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
Program Director Eng. Aisha Al Jaber said the program is the epitome of QSC's vision to build an integrated national system that nurtures young innovators by creating an advanced scientific environment that provides participants with space to develop their innovative ideas into actual projects.
Al Jaber further highlighted that the club leverages its overall technical and knowledge capabilities to serve participants by furnishing them with laboratories, manufacturing workshops, and cutting-edge technological devices.
This is alongside providing technical support and scientific consultations from a contingent of experts and in-the-know individuals, Al Jaber pointed out, stating that this would ensure an integrated educational experience that helps them develop projects based on the highest scientific and engineering standards.
She noted the combined efforts of the program partners, namely Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Qatar Business Incubation Center, Qatar Science and Technology Park, Qatar Research, Development, and Innovation Council, and Qatar Development Bank.
Al Jaber stressed that these combined efforts represent a model of partnership in supporting innovation and youth empowerment, as well as helping prepare a new generation of inventors capable of creating outstanding solutions that serve society in sync with the nation's aspirations.
Overall, the program includes an integrated series of applied workshops and interactive activities that accompany participants throughout all innovation phases, starting from idea generation until developing their concepts and preparing feasibility studies, she underscored.
Al Jaber outlined that these ideas culminate in designing prototypes that are further manufactured and tested, then showcased before a professional evaluation panel utilizing state-of-the-art technologies in programming, electronics, and 2D and 3D engineering design, alongside team competitions, thereby reaching in a final showcase recognizing the best inventions and innovative projects.
In essence, the program is threefold, commencing with the design thinking phase, which aims to develop creative thinking skills, generate ideas, prepare feasibility studies, and leverage expert mentoring sessions to refine projects. This is followed by the engineering design phase, during which participants learn engineering design methods, prepare design drawings, and select appropriate materials for implementation.
On the other hand, the project implementation phase serves as the program's practical component, where participants work in specialized teams to fabricate prototypes, conduct technical testing, and produce evaluation-ready prototypes.
Intriguingly, the program is anticipated to produce a combination of innovations and models that provide practical solutions to daily life challenges, in addition to advancing participants' skills and enabling them to think outside the box when it comes to engineering design and collaborative work.
They use modern technologies to ensure that they consistently pursue their path in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship, thereby fostering their contributions to supporting the knowledge-based economy the nation pursues.
By and large, the program embodies MSY's vision of unlocking national youth potential by offering an integrated educational and practical environment that fuses scientific knowledge with practical application.
This would provide participants with the opportunity to turn their creative ideas into scalable and implementable prototypes that enhance their abilities to innovate and create entrepreneurial and technical solutions. (QNA)
