14 Killed, 22 Others Wounded in Suicide Attack in Northern Pakistan
Islamabad, August 02 (QNA) - A suicide bombing took place during civil society protests in Swat district in northern Pakistan, killing 14 people and injuring 22 others, the police said in a statement Sunday.
The statement added that the blast occurred at a crowded intersection near a police center in Swat district, with the attacker detonating his explosive vest.
On Saturday, the Pakistani military reported that one of its personnel was killed, along with 12 militants, during two security operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces as part of the country's counterterrorism efforts.
For years, Pakistani forces have continued their security operations against armed groups active in border and mountainous areas in the northwest of the country, which occasionally launch attacks on security personnel and civilians. (QNA)
