Doha, August 19 (QNA) - Qatar Charity (QC) continues to implement its humanitarian and development interventions in a number of countries and areas affected by crises, benefiting from advance preparedness plans and accelerated project implementation, coinciding with World Humanitarian Day, which falls on Aug. 19 every year, under the theme "Making Our Greatest Achievement the Protection of Each Other."
Qatar Charity completed preparations during 2026 to implement 4,213 projects in nine Asian and African countries in the fields of water and sanitation, education, culture, social housing, and economic empowerment, through preparing sites, completing permits, and making preparations with suppliers, enabling the transition to implementation as soon as funding is received.
This approach aims to shorten the period between securing funding and starting project implementation, and to accelerate the delivery of aid and essential services to beneficiaries, thereby enhancing the efficiency of responding to humanitarian needs.
In the Gaza Strip, more than five million people benefited from Qatar Charity's interventions from 2023 to 2025 in the fields of food, health, water, education, and shelter. 
Meanwhile, during 2026, the organization continued to provide food assistance amid ongoing humanitarian needs, including the distribution of 198,000 ready-to-eat meals to patients, workers at health facilities, and displaced people.
In Sudan, Qatar Charity's interventions reached more than one million people inside Sudan and in neighboring countries through 74 projects and interventions covering relief, health, food, and other basic needs, amid the continuing repercussions of the conflict, which has entered its fourth year.
In Syria, the value of Qatar Charity's interventions during 2025 exceeded QAR 163 million, benefiting more than two million people. The interventions covered health, education, food, shelter, water, livelihoods, and economic empowerment.
During 2026, Qatar Charity began implementing more than 830 specialized surgical procedures in Syria, including operations for children suffering from congenital heart defects, open-heart surgeries, cochlear implantation, and cataract removal procedures.
These efforts come as the world celebrates World Humanitarian Day, which highlights the importance of humanitarian work and the role of humanitarian workers in assisting those affected by crises and disasters, and in strengthening the response to growing needs in various parts of the world.
Qatar Charity's interventions also cover a number of countries and areas experiencing humanitarian crises or conditions requiring continued support, including Sudan, Somalia, Yemen, Syria, and Palestine, through projects and assistance in the fields of food, water, shelter, and healthcare, in addition to supporting livelihoods and economic empowerment.
This occasion reaffirms the importance of developing humanitarian response mechanisms in line with the nature of rapidly evolving and protracted crises, strengthening the protection of humanitarian workers and ensuring the delivery of aid to those in need, as well as supporting the ability of affected communities to withstand challenges and restore the basic conditions for life.
In this context, the concept of advance preparedness stands out as one of the approaches that contribute to reducing response time, so that humanitarian efforts do not begin when a crisis occurs; rather, plans, projects, and procedures are ready to move into implementation when the necessary resources become available.
World Humanitarian Day represents an occasion to emphasize the importance of continuing humanitarian efforts, not only to respond to urgent needs, but also to support recovery and strengthen communities' ability to build a more stable future. (QNA)
