QRCS, OCHA Mark World Humanitarian Day 2026
Doha, August 19 (QNA) - Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) participated in a solidarity stand on Wednesday, organized by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) – Qatar Mission, in celebration of the World Humanitarian Day 2026.
Held at the UN House in Doha, the solidarity stand saw the participation of representatives of the UN agencies operating in Qatar in addition to Qatari governmental and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).
During the event, Acting Secretary-General of QRCS Abdullah Sultan Al Qattan said that "we reiterate our utter condemnation of all forms of attack and/or restriction against aid providers. Such actions constitute a flagrant violation of all relevant international laws as conventions, as well as a total disrespect for religious teachings and moral ideals."
In this context, Al Qattan remembered the sad loss of dedicated QRCS humanitarians while bravely doing their job of saving lives and helping victims.
"In the admirably noble spirit of humanitarianism shown by all participants in this solidarity stand, we reaffirm our commitment to pursuing the path of humanity and upholding the humanitarian mission, towards a world where its wings are stretched to every person in need," said the Acting Secretary-General of QRCS.
QRCS and OCHA inaugurated a public photo exhibition to highlight humanitarian action globally and promote awareness of the increasing risks faced by civilians and humanitarian workers in conflict and crisis zones.
The exhibition came as part the broader #ActForHumanity campaign that is taking place in Qatar and around the world, promoting respect for international humanitarian law and calling for the protection of civilians, humanitarian workers, and medical and relief personnel, in addition to ensuring that humanitarian assistance reaches those in need safely and without obstruction.
The photo exhibition reflects QRCS and OCHA's commitment to raising awareness of humanitarian issues, highlighting humanitarian workers' vital role, and mobilizing support for respect for humanitarian principles and the protection of people affected by conflicts and disasters.
Lasting until August 22, the event features a collection of expressive photographs and visuals that reflect real-world humanitarian responses in various crises, as well as infographics illustrating the impact of conflict on civilians and humanitarian workers. (QNA)
