Geneva, August 11 (QNA) - World Health Organization (WHO) said that thousands of patients in Gaza Strip are still awaiting medical evacuation.

In his remarks on Tuesday, WHO Spokesperson Tarik Jasarevic indicated that 12,913 patients, including 6,186 children, had been medically evacuated from Gaza since October 2023, along with around 16,000 companions.

He added that medical evacuations are currently taking place three to four times a week. "Last week, from Aug. 2-8, 101 patients and 164 companions were evacuated," Jasarevic said.

WHO has consistently urged the occupying authorities to facilitate the exit of patients and the wounded from the Gaza Strip, so that they can obtain the medical care they need for their conditions, in addition to allowing the entry of necessary supplies to the Palestinians besieged in the Strip.
