Tokyo, July 06 (QNA) - Japan's broader Topix index rose for a sixth straight session on Monday, helped by lower oil prices and positive global market sentiment, while the Nikkei 225 ended flat.

The Topix gained 0.50% to close at 4,084.74, extending its longest winning streak since August 2025.
The Nikkei 225, which is heavily weighted toward technology stocks, closed unchanged at 69,737.69.

Shipping, automotive and machinery stocks led the gains, with Toyota Motor rising 3.36% and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries climbing 8.39%.

Electronic component makers weighed on the Nikkei, led by Taiyo Yuden, which tumbled 10.58%, followed by Ibiden, down 8.37%, and Murata Manufacturing, which fell 7.49%.

Of the Nikkei's 225 constituents, 177 advanced while 48 declined. (QNA)
