Gold Prices Edge Lower in Global Markets

Singapore, July 31 (QNA) - Gold prices edged lower in Asian spot trading on Friday as investors awaited further market developments while assessing inflation indicators and the outlook for interest rates.

Spot gold fell 0.2 percent to $4,096.29 an ounce, but remained on track for a weekly gain of around 1.1 percent.

US gold futures for August delivery, meanwhile, rose 0.1 percent to $4,094.10.

On a monthly basis, the precious metal is on course to post gains of more than 2.2 percent.

In other precious metals, spot silver was little changed at $58.98 an ounce, while platinum fell 1.3 percent to $1,638.97 and palladium slipped 0.2 percent to $1,301.94. (QNA)
