Doha, July 29 (QNA) - The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has launched a new digital service that enables consumers and businesses to access general regulatory indicators about companies.
The Ministry highlighted that this service helps them make informed decisions before entering into contracts while ensuring compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements that protect consumer rights and the regulatory rights of companies.
In a statement on Wednesday, MOCI pointed out that this launch is part of its efforts regarding digital transformation and enhanced oversight, as well as fostering transparency and safeguarding the rights of all parties through having an official information source in place.
This source, the Ministry assured, would prevent reliance on unreliable sources and contribute to strengthening confidence in the business environment and enabling consumers to better evaluate their options before entering into contracts.
The Ministry further noted that the report includes a combination of core introductory data, such as company name, license number, commercial activity, and license status, as well as showcasing an array of oversight indicators.
These indicators, it noted, include the number of complaints and infractions, administrative enforcement actions, complaint categories, and company response rates.
Access to the report is provided through two mechanisms: the first allows companies to provide prior consent for displaying their regulatory information, with the consent documented and archived in accordance with approved procedures, the statement continued.
The statement further explained that the second mechanism requires obtaining company consent when a report request is submitted, meaning the report is only made available to the consumer after the company has been notified and approval has been completed.
MOCI outlined that beneficiaries can submit a request to obtain this report through its website by accessing Digital Platform Services, signing in through the National Authentication System "Tawtheeq", selecting Services, navigating to Inquiries, and choosing Regulatory Record Report.
The service in question, the statement read, would strengthen transparency and confidence in commercial transactions by offering indicators that help consumers assess companies more clearly before making contracting decisions. (QNA)
