7.2-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Southern Peru
Lima, August 21 (QNA) - A 7.2-magnitude earthquake struck southern Peru on Thursday.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The epicenter was located about 40 kilometers north-west of Ocuviricho, around 800 kilometers from the capital Lima, at a depth of 66 kilometers.
On August 3, a 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck eastern Peru.
Peru experiences at least 400 earthquakes felt by residents every year, as it lies on the Pacific Ring of Fire, a zone of seismic activity stretching along the western coast of the Americas. (QNA)
