Doha, July 21 (QNA) - Widam Food, a Qatari public shareholding company and the main operator of Al Wakrah Central Abattoir and private abattoirs in the country, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Qatar Livestock Society (Anaam).

The MOU aims to market livestock products from Qatari breeders by showcasing them at Widam's pens at Al Wakrah Central Abattoir, Umm Salal Central Market, Al Shahaniya Central Abattoir, and the Abu Nakhla sales area.

In addition, these products will be available on the company's online application throughout the year.

Under this memorandum, Anaam will coordinate with breeders to import products based on required specifications and weights that are in high demand among consumers.

The MOU also covers studying requests to purchase breeding ewes from productive breeds, making them available for sale to breeders in coordination with Anaam, with the objective of contributing to the development and improvement of Qatar's flock genetics.

In essence, domestic production helps cover the demand for red meat through initiatives the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) has been implementing in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality to support citizens for 16 years.

Throughout this period, the MOCI has achieved a paradigm shift in production efficiency, helping to advance Qatar's food security.

Anaam focuses on supporting the livestock sector and breeders in Qatar, with the goal of improving local livestock production efficiency and serving as a bridge between breeders and government entities. (QNA)
