Kuwait City, July 21 (QNA) - Kuwait's Foreign Ministry on Tuesday handed a protest note to Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Tutunji over Iran's attack on the tanker Kaifan on Monday evening while transiting the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in injuries to some of its crew members.

Having handed the note to the Iranian diplomat, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Hamad Suleiman Al Mashaan said this assault came in the wake of the heightened aggression Iran has been launching against Kuwait since February 28.

He added that the aggression has been coupled with incitement and provocative statements from Tehran, stressing that these assaults flagrantly violate Kuwait's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and interests.

These attacks pose a threat to security and freedom of international navigation, Al Mashaan stressed, re-emphasizing that they breach international law, the UN Charter, and UN Security Council Resolution 2817 (2026).

Al Mashaan remarked that Kuwait reiterates its call on Iran to immediately cease its unlawful attacks, stressing that it retains its right to take essential measures.

He held Iran fully responsible for this attack, along with its unrelenting aggression against Kuwait. (QNA)
