Qatar Participates in GCC Agricultural Cooperation Committee Extraordinary Meeting on Food Security
Doha, July 02 (QNA) - The State of Qatar participated Thursday in the meeting of Their Excellencies members of the Ministerial Committee for Agricultural Cooperation and Food Security of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Agricultural Cooperation Committee, which was held via videoconference.
HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipality Eng. Ali bin Mohammed Al Ali represented the State of Qatar at the meeting.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for enhancing Gulf integration in strategic sectors, in light of the decisions of the 19th Consultative Meeting of Their Majesties and Highnesses, the leaders of the GCC states, as well as discussing the measures taken to enhance the strategic food stock, ensure the smooth flow of supply chains, and facilitate the movement of food commodities between member states, in order to strengthen the Gulf food security system.
In his remarks, HE the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Municipality stressed that regional and international changes necessitate strengthening coordination and integration among the GCC states. He noted that food security has become a fundamental pillar of security and stability, and that recent experiences have proven the importance of unifying efforts and raising the level of preparedness to face various challenges.
He added that the meeting represents a new step toward establishing an integrated Gulf system for food security, characterized by greater flexibility and sustainability, which supports the aspirations of the GCC states and enhances food security for their people. (QNA)
