Doha, June 20 (QNA) - The Ministry of Endowments (Awqaf) and Islamic Affairs held its annual scholarship graduation ceremony for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Patronized by HE Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanem, the event underscored the Ministry's commitment to advancing education and developing a generation equipped with knowledge and values to serve their communities.
The ceremony marked a milestone in a comprehensive educational program combining academic achievement and values-based development.
It featured a high-profile official and academic attendance, including HE Undersecretary for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani, as representative of the patronizer, alongside assistant undersecretaries of the Ministry, top-echelon officials, department directors, and scholarship officials.
The ceremony recognized multiple cohorts of students, including graduates of the scholarship program, the Religious Institute, and the Diploma in Da'wah and Islamic Sciences at the Community College, along with outstanding Qatari students at the Religious Institute.
The recognition reflected the range of educational paths supported by Awqaf and its effort to build a combined system for advancing academic and religious expertise, on both the national and global stages, strengthening the nation's role in serving issues of the Islamic nation.
Director of Da'wah and Religious Guidance, Jassim bin Abdullah Al Ali said the scholarship program is one of the strategic pillars the Ministry capitalizes on to build humans and chart the future.
The program embodies an integrated vision that aims to mobilize workforces specializing in Sharia capable of propagating the decent Islam's message and deepening the ethos of moderation, Al Ali stressed.
He highlighted that this year's program enrolls 182 students representing 39 brotherly and friendly nations in a move that demonstrates the global dimension of this program and its role in deepening civilizational assembly and sharing intercultural knowledge.
The percentage of excelled students reached 40%, he noted, manifesting the top-notch educational programs and integrated care Awqaf provides to students.
Al Ali further pointed out that the program isn't solely confined to the academic aspect, but depends on a thoroughgoing qualification system that includes educational, faithful and skillful aspects through having a stable learning environment in place since students' arrival in the State of Qatar, coupled with programs in the Holy Qur'an and its teachings, as well as social activities that help hone personalities and skills.
Overall, as part of its support for outstanding students, Al Ali noted that 23 university scholarships had been allocated this year at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Qatar University (QU), enabling graduates to continue their academic and specialized studies.
Al Ali shared the ministry's commitment to Qatari students, noting that 48 outstanding Qatari students at the Religious Institute were recognized, while six students benefited from the government scholarship program at the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies, alongside the Associate Diploma in Da'wah and Islamic Sciences at the Community College, which enrolls 57 students from both genders, including 13 who are graduating this year.
Collaboratively, these programs represent a combined system that helps achieve Awqaf's strategic objective in mobilizing qualified scientific talents who are ready to serve the religion and the society alike and promote the path toward sustainable development, Al Ali underscored.
In a gesture of gratitude reflecting the ministry's commitment to national talent and the promotion of academic excellence, HE Undersecretary for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs Dr Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed bin Ghanem Al-Thani honored a top-rung of educational and academic leaders, including President of the Community College of Qatar Dr. Khalid Mohamed Al Horr; Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Al Ansari, Dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at QU; and Abdulla Rashid Al Nuaimi, Director of the Institute for Religious Studies Preparatory and Secondary School for Boys, in recognition of their effective contributions to supporting education and promoting academic values.
The ceremony was then wrapped up in a festive extravaganza that demonstrated the accomplished achievement following years-long conscientiousness and perseverance marking a pivotal milestone that ushers in a new era of giving and influence.
The organization of this ceremony comes as part of the Ministry's commitment to deepening its role in mobilizing a generation of qualified scientific talent capable of spreading decent Islam's values and contributing to building a more conscious and tight-knit community.
This gathering further underscores the State of Qatar's commitment to backing the education sector and investing in people as the core pillar of achieving sustainable development and building a knowledge-based future.
The connotation and objectives of this ceremony deeply align with the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly when it comes to developing human resources through mobilizing an erudite generation in terms of science and tenets capable of contributing to a knowledge-based society that profoundly adheres to its cultural and religious identity.
In essence, support for scholarship programs and the sponsorship of both international and national students alike underscores the nation's thought-out approach to investing in humans as the cornerstone of comprehensive and sustainable development, and to strengthening Qatar's civilizational presence on both regional and global stages.
The event also embodies one of the incredible outcomes of Awqaf's strategic plan, which prioritizes the preparation of qualified scholarly and religious workforce, and the strengthening of the Islamic education system across its various pathways to meet the needs of society and keep pace with contemporary developments.
The ceremony stands as tangible evidence of the success of the Ministry's programs and initiatives in preparing personnel capable of promoting the values of moderation and balance and entrenching the tolerant message of Islam, within a structured framework that supports the achievement of national development goals and contributes to serving society and humanity.
