Houston, June 20 (QNA) - Netherlands routed Sweden 5-1 in their second Group F match of the FIFA World Cup 2026, held Saturday at Houston Stadium.
Brian Brobbey scored twice for the Netherlands in the 5th and 17th minutes, while Cody Gakpo also struck a brace in the 47th and 54th minutes.
Crysencio Summerville added a late goal in the 89th minute, as Sweden's only reply came from Anthony Elanga in the 59th minute.
The result saw the Netherlands move top of Group F with four points, having opened their World Cup campaign with a 2-2 draw against Japan, while Sweden dropped to second place on three points, earned from their 5-1 win over Tunisia in the opening round.
Japan sit third with one point ahead of their anticipated clash with bottom-placed Tunisia, who remain without a point, later in the second round of Group F fixtures. (QNA)
