Qatar Chamber Organizes Roundtable to Strengthen Economic Cooperation with Germany's North Rhine-Westphalia
Doha, June 20 (QNA) - Qatar Chamber organized a Qatar-German roundtable titled "Qatar and North Rhine-Westphalia: Connecting Markets and Creating Opportunities," aimed at strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two sides and opening new avenues for private-sector partnerships.
The event was organized in cooperation with the German Industry and Commerce Office in Qatar (AHK) and NRW Global Business, the Trade and Investment Agency of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia.
The event held at the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia to the Federal Government in Berlin, brought together a number of Qatari business leaders and representatives of Qatari institutions, alongside officials and representatives of German companies and economic organizations from North Rhine-Westphalia.
Sheikha Tamader Al-Thani, Director of International Relations and Chamber Affairs, headed the Qatari delegation.
On the German side, Dr. Matthias Roأںbach, head of the Representation of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and State Plenipotentiary to the Federal Government in Berlin, and Felix Neugart, CEO of the North Rhine-Westphalia Trade and Investment Agency NRW.Global Business were present.
Discussions focused on ways to enhance trade, economic, and investment cooperation between the State of Qatar and North Rhine-Westphalia, while exploring opportunities for partnership between the private sectors of both sides.
In her opening remarks, Sheikha Tamader Al-Thani stated that the longstanding partnership between Qatar and Germany, particularly with North Rhine-Westphalia, continues to grow on a foundation of mutual trust, shared ambition, and a common commitment to economic development and innovation.
She noted that there is significant potential to build new partnerships that benefit businesses and communities of both countries, reaffirming Qatar Chamber's commitment to supporting stronger commercial relations and creating opportunities for collaboration between the private sectors of both sides.
Sheikha Tamader added that the roundtable reflects the shared dedication to expanding economic and business ties and fostering sustainable growth, highlighting opportunities in advanced manufacturing, logistics, energy, sustainability, digital transformation, and modern technology sectors.
The event featured a series of presentations on the business environment and investment opportunities in both Qatar and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Faisal Al Ibrahim, Senior Specialist for International and Local Affairs at Invest Qatar, presented the investment opportunities available in the State of Qatar. Meanwhile, Sheikha Hessa bint Nasser Al-Thani, Head of Qatar & MENA Professional Services Sector at the Qatar Financial Centre (QFC), highlighted the advantages and services offered by the Center to international investors and businesses. Marco Neelsen, Group CEO of Q-Terminals, also showcased Qatar's advanced logistics infrastructure and its pivotal role in facilitating international trade.
The roundtable witnessed extensive discussions on cooperation opportunities between Qatari and German companies, particularly in the fields of industry, energy, technology, and logistics, as well as presentations of successful experiences in investment and international expansion.
The program also included a site visit organised by Qatar Chamber for Qatari business leaders to SAP, a leading German global company and one of the world's largest providers of enterprise software solutions, as well as to the Siemens Energy Factory, which specializes in the production of gas turbines and is part of Siemens Energy's industrial facilities. During the visit, the Qatari delegation was briefed on the latest technologies and innovations used in these sectors.
The roundtable is part of Qatar Chamber's ongoing efforts to expand its international network, strengthen cooperation between the Qatari private sector and its global counterparts, and explore new horizons for partnership and investment that serve the mutual interests of Qatar and Germany. (QNA)
